National Youth Day : 12 January
- Every Year 12 January is celebrated as National Youth Day across India to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanada.
- Swami Vivekananda was chief disciple of mystic Ramkrishna Paramhansa. He introduced the Indian Philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the world.
- This aims to create awareness among the youth about the rights in India. It also aims to inspire the youth generations.
- The theme of the National Youth Day 2020 is "Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building".
National Youth Festival 2020 begins at Lucknow
- The 23rd National Youth Festival 2020 began at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on 12 January 2020.
- CM Yogi Adithyanath and Union Minister Kiren Rijuju (Youth affairs and Sports) inaugurated the 5-day event.
- The National Youth festival will increase the EK BHARAT SHRESTH BHARAT bonding and it will prove as a learning platform for everyone.
- It is being organized since 1995 with an objective to provide a platform to the youth of the couuntry to exhibit their talents in various activities.
Cyber Crime Prevention Unit Launched by Home Minister
- Union Home Minister On a 2-day visit to Gujarat from January11-12, 2020.
- He launched two projects AASHVAST (Assured Assistance Service Helpline for Victims at Shortest Time ) and VISWAS (Video Integration and State Wide Advanced Security) in Gandhinagar.
- AASHVAST -cyber crime unit will have a dedicated service helpline for victims of cyber crimes.
Yashaswini Scheme launched by Smriti Irani
- Union Minister for Women and child Development and Textiles, Smriti Irani launched Yashaswini Scheme for Women entrepreneurship in Goa On 11 January 2020 in Goa
- This event was held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at Taleigao near Panaji..
- Under Yashaswini Scheme, women SHGs will be given interest free loans upto Rs 5 lakh for business.
- She also inaugurated Swasthya Sakhi Project and breast cancer screening initiative on the occasion.

RBI released NSFI report
- The Reserve Bank of India has released a report " National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI) 2019-2024.
- This report has been formulated by RBI under the aegis of Financial Inclusion Advisory Committee(FIAC) and ratified by the Financial Stability Development Council (FSDC).
APPOINTMENTS
Haitham bin Tariq al-Said becomes Sultan of Oman
- Haitham bin Tariq al-Said took over as the sultan of Oman on 11 January 2020 after the death of long-time Ruler Sultan Qaboos.
- Qaboos was the longest-serving monarch among the recent Arab rulers. He ruled Oman since 1970 and was 8th sultan of the House of Al Said.
